The Clinic is run as a professional veterinary clinic open five days a week. In addition to meeting the RSPCA’s licensing requirements and their bi-annual inspection it is accredited to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Core Standards. It employs a full time Veterinary Surgeon and a full time Clinic Administrator.

Our vet normally consults on Monday, Wednesday & Friday with Tuesday & Thursday reserved for operations in our own operating theatre. All consultations are by appointment.

The Clinic opening times are:

Monday to Thursday          9am to 3pm
Friday                                 9am to 1pm

Details of how we provide emergency treatment outside of the normal opening times is available from our staff at the Clinic or outside of the normal opening times by telephoning the Clinic on 01245 478886.

Any treatment or procedure that is outside the Clinic’s facilities is referred by our vet to a private veterinary clinic that has the required facilities.

For an animal to be treated at our Clinic the owner must be on a means tested benefit and have completed a “Client Agreement” form issued by the Clinic. Full details of this are available by application in person at the Clinic.

Shop Now Open!

The Chelmsford Mayor, Councillor Alan Arnot and the Mayoress kindly came and 'cut the ribbon' to officially open our new RSPCA shop at 178 Moulsham Street, Chelmsford on Saturday (24th July).  (One of the pictures has from left Julie and Sharon, Shop Managers at the opening.)

The shop was taken over by the RSPCA Mid Essex Branch in April 2010 and since then there has been a lot of work done to refit and redevelop it ready for opening on Saturday (24th July).  Grateful thanks go to the following companies and individuals who without their support, this project may not have been possible:

We had a special cake that was kindly donated by Pilgrims Patisserie, and refreshments donated by the Co-operative, both in Chelmsford.

Thanks to the companies who gave us prizes for our raffle – All4Paws, Diva Dogs, Enterprise rent-a-car and Sainsbury’s.  We also launched our Pet Picture Competition to celebrate 'Our Pets'.  Andy Dunn, Sue Colebourn and Pets at Home have kindly donated prizes, which will be awarded for a range of categories (closing date 10th September). 

The RSPCA Mid Essex shop is the only animal charity shop in Chelmsford.  The money raised is used to support our welfare work to help animals in the local mid Essex area including funding our veterinary clinic in Great Baddow.  We have a range of bric a brac, clothing, toys, books and household items in the new shop but would be grateful for more good quality items to stock our new shop.For information about our services or for those considering volunteering for a worthwhile local charity, please get in touch with us on 07891 653238
