Fundraising Events
As a separate branch from the main HQ RSPCA, we are self-funded and subsequently, we have to raise funds from the lovely people in our surrounding area in order to maintain our services including a clinic with a full time vet, a shop and branch practice. Our goal, as always, is to continue offering help, aid and advice for the benefit of animals in our local area.
Fundraising is a great way to get involved and help maintain your local branch, and have some fun along the way!
By helping you can make new friends, gain a sense of achievement helping a charity of your choice, get fit, improve your CV by adding your committment to it and simply by getting out and about knowing you are helping your LOCAL animal charity.
If fundraising sounds like something you would like to get involved with then please download this volunteer registration form and let us know what types of fundraising activities you prefer.

Fundraising efforts for local animals
Thank you to three of our RSPCA Mid Essex volunteers, Shane Geoghegan, Simon Champ and Bob Hales for organising a very successful quiz night in aid of the charity at the Marconi Club, Chelmsford in December. More than 100 people attended and are very grateful for their generosity raising a fantastic sum of £442.85. Thank you to everybody else who helped and took part to make it a wonderful evening.
We are also grateful to the following organisations for supporting RSPCA Mid Essex through providing raffle prizes and support for the evening - Marconi Club; Robinsons Fish and Chips, Moulsham Street; Blissful Soul, Moulsham Street and KarMar Beauty Therapies.
Local girl’s sponsored charity walk is a great success A girl of eleven, Laura Briscoe from Writtle who organised a charity walk on Sunday, 15 May managed to raise around £600 for her chosen charities.
Around 30 walkers and 10 dogs took part in an hour-long ramble around Beauchamp Roding near Ongar, which ended with refreshments and cakes at The Room in the Rodings.
Laura said: “I wanted to collect money for the RSPCA and the Dogs Trust because I love animals and want to be a vet when I grow up. Thank you to everyone who has donated and to my friends Sarah and Chloe for helping me with the event.”
Mum Mary added: “We’re really proud of Laura. She has been so excited in organising this event for the RSPCA and Dogs Trust.
Laura has not done anything like this before and has done so well. We want to thank all our friends and family who gave so generously and helped us raise this fantastic amount of money.”
Clive Vallis, RSPCA Mid Essex Branch Chairman presented Laura with a certificate and said: “Thanks to Laura for all of her hard work in support of RSPCA Mid Essex which is much appreciated.”
Thank you to shoppers, supporters and Tesco staff
On behalf of our branch, thank you to shoppers who gave so generously when we held a collection at the Tesco Store in Princes Road, Chelmsford during our fundraising week from the 2nd to the 8th May 2011.
Through the generosity of Tesco customers, we were fortunate enough to collect in total a fantastic £2,050.85 and were given 1,031 pieces of pet food purchased from their store.
We are also thankful to the volunteer collectors who gave up their time to help and also to staff at Tesco for their support during our collection week.
RSPCA Mid Essex raises all of its funds locally from individual donations and do not receive government or lottery funding. The monies raised will be ploughed back into the services to support our work to help animals in the local mid Essex area. We will be donating the dog food to RSPCA Danaher Animal Home while some of the cat food will be used at our clinic and the rest will be given to the local Cats Protection branches.
Thank you, once again, to everyone who helped to make our biggest annual fundraiser such a success to raise vital funds for your local branch of the RSPCA.
Great Baddow Community Association (GBCA), which runs the Millennium Centre in Great Baddow, Chelmsford recently handed over a cheque for £1,100 to their nominated charity, RSPCA Mid Essex Branch.
Marilyn Hobrough, Secretary of GBCA commented: “We are pleased to be able to donate this money to the RSPCA Mid Essex Branch. This past year through raffles and smaller donations from groups who use the centre, we have raised this money that goes to support our nominated charities. We like to give the money raised back to the local community.”
Receiving the cheque from Marilyn, Clive Vallis, Chair of RSPCA Mid Essex Branch said: “We are very grateful for the Great Baddow Community Association’s support.
